Our origins

Empresas CastilloIn the year 1951 Castillo Companies was born in the food industry. With Don Hipólito Castillo Pineda.

As the years goes by, Empresas Castillo breaks into the canned jerky area, a milestone that is the first step for transforming the activity into a Canning Industry, incorporating products such as Pâté, Asparagus, Fruits and Vegetables in general, moreover they improved the quality of infrastructure and staff training. In this way, in 1969, the legal structure was given to what we are today Conservas Castillo Ltda. Being its General Manager Mr. Edgardo Castillo Susperreguy and continuing this legacy with his children.

The Company begins to take an active part in the field within the eighth region, giving confidence and quality, which would lead to exporting its products to Singapore, Spain, France and Germany among others countries.

Conservas Castillo begins to specialize in pasta, with its traditional product Castillo Veal Pâte and pâté with brand California among others, by 1996 starts the manufacture of pâtés with La Piara brand and later with Geomar and Comestruz brand for the national and export market.

To be leaders in the canning industry, being recognized for the quality, innovation and technology in our products and services, in a harmonious relationship with the environment and forming an efficient work team that stimulates the personal and professional development of its members and customers.

In 2015, Conservas Castillo innovated in the field of canned prepared foods in microwaveable containers, developing a new line for Agrosuper and Empresas Tucapel. Flavors such as beans with porridge, chicken pastry, chicken and rice, beans with reins, creamed peas, and garden lentils have positioned themselves as a premium option thanks to their flavor, freshness, and quality, responding to emerging consumer demands.

That same year, pâté was produced for the Transantartic brand with varieties such as seafood, salmon, and spider crab, which were well received in the market.

Due to its presentation, the jar-style packaging caught the attention of Mar Vivo, and in 2018 it marked the debut of options such as canned salmon with risotto and veggie salmon, products that were exported to the United States. Currently, Mar Vivo produces a tin-plated can of natural salmon, a product that captures the purity and freshness of salmon in its simplest and most natural form. This product has been appreciated by consumers interested in high-quality products without additives or preservatives, allowing it to stand out in a competitive market.
